How Do Concealment Jackets Work?

September 18, 2018 by barbara

As the weather begins to cool in the fall and winter months, you may be shopping around for concealment jackets, coats and vests to secure and house your weapon while you are out and about. Concealment jackets offer a safe way to carry your weapon, magazine clips, wallet, keys, phone and other essentials in a hands-free manner. It is far easier to conceal larger weapons in the cooler months.

The beauty of a concealed carry jacket is that it looks exactly like any other type of fall or winter jacket. There are no identifying markers or standout features that would lead any unsuspecting person to believe that you were carrying a weapon anywhere on your body.

Most concealment jackets feature five to eight built-in pockets. One pocket will have a built-in holster for your weapon; these pockets will most likely secure with a zip closure. Magazine pouches have sewn-in liners that are sometimes stretchy or mesh to keep your clips securely in place; these pockets will also likely feature a zip closure. Magazine clip and holster pockets are almost always located on the interior of the jacket for safety, security and discreet carrying.

With some styles of concealment jackets or vests, you will need to size up. Often, these jackets will have an elasticized band at the bottom that can restrict movement if you are in between sizes or have a larger stomach. The additional pockets on a concealment jacket will be located on the exterior and interior of the jacket. These pockets may or may not have zippered closures. Some are open, and some will feature snaps or buttons. These remaining pockets are ideal for storing your other travel essentials.,/p>

Most concealment jackets are manufactured with the latest technology and style in mind. They are not one-season jackets that will look dated five years from now, and they often come in neutral colors: black, tan, brown, olive green and navy blue. A concealment jacket or vest is a versatile, stylish, hands-free, affordable and safe way to carry your weapon in the fall, winter and cooler spring months.
