  1. Gifts for him

    November 21, 2012 by barbara

My brother-in-law is celebrating his 40th birthday in 2 weeks’ time.  I have yet to get him a gift, can you believe it?  I find it easier to shop for women than men.  My husband gave me some gift ideas like robern medicine cabinets from qualitybath.com since my brother-in-law needs one.  Since I was not sure, I went surfing for gift ideas and found the Switch modular pocketknife with 18 different attachments at Quirky.com.

I am also considering this Converge, a docking station for the electronics.  Decisions, decisions.

  2. How To Remove Garlic Odor From Hand

    August 31, 2012 by barbara

Here is a very stylish and simple way to get crushed garlic. Just get the Joseph Joseph Garlic Rocker from SurLaTable.  All you need to do is press it against the garlic using downward pressure and rocking motion.  As this crusher is made of stainless steel, it helps to  remove garlic odors too.    How neat huh?

  4. Useful Kitchen Gadgets

    September 19, 2011 by barbara

I just saw a few items at The Kitchen outlet that are very handy for the home.   I could do with a few of these items.  They will certainly make my life easier.

    h1

IMCG Plate Spacer.  These are plastic blocks that should be place at three different sides of a plate.  They help to pile the plates nicely to save space and time.

    h2

Norpro Apple Corer which features stainless steel blades that cuts into 8 even wedges.

    h3

Chef’N High Tailer Shrimp Deveinier.  This is just what I need because I do not like to peel and devein shrimps.  Just give it a simple squeeze and the stainless steel end would do everything in just one step.

  5. Mini Cooler That Is So Cool

    August 15, 2011 by barbara

While the spouse and his friend were discussing about gps map, I was surfing the internet for some birthday gift ideas for a friend’s 17 year old daughter.  I came upon this funky mini cooler from Pottery Barn.  Oh it is just so cute. This mini fridge can keep four soda cans and consumes less power than a traditional refrigerator.   I think it is the perfect gift for a teenager, don’t you think so?  I may just get another one for my office.

  6. Backpack Umbrella

    June 19, 2011 by barbara

This Backpack umbrella is worn on the back and provides rain and sun protection while keeping the hands free.  It is great when you need to lug the grocery bags, a dog’s leash or child’s hand.  The umbrella fits into a pack which is strapped at the back.  It only takes a few seconds to unzip the pack, remove the umbrella and attach it to the pack’s built-in and adjustable support rod.  The umbrella covers a 39 1/4″ diameter.  It collapses easily against its pole.  No doubt looks funny but it is practical.  Available at Hammacher Schlemmer.

  8. The Ultimate Juicer

    April 4, 2011 by barbara

Check out this cool kitchen gadget from Royal VKB.  It is a double-sided hand juicer which allows you to juice without any mess.  Just place the Citrange juicer directly on the glass.  It has a built-in funnel which will guide the juice into the glass.  Another great thing is that the Citrange also filters out the seeds.  The rounded side is for bigger fruits like grapefruits or orange and the pointy side is for lemons or limes.  I love to have my juices in the morning before I pop some pre workout supplements. The Citrange is just what I need.

  9. Wash and Brush Timer For Kids

    March 20, 2011 by barbara

Kids, mine included, do not like to wash their hands or brush their teeth. Even if they do, they tend to do it as quickly as possible, which is not really a good thing because they won’t be able to wash away the germs effectively.  This Wash & Brush 2-Minute Timer is designed to teach the children to slow down.   Press the appropriate button and the green light will start flashing.  When its near the expiry period, the light flashes faster and then turn red when done.  This timer is a fun way to promote good hygiene in children.  So each time when the child wants to wash his/her hands or brushes their teeth, let them press the button and start washing away.
