  1. Simple Ways To Make Your Shopping Addiction Easier To Manage

    June 12, 2017 by barbara

When you love shopping, you can often find that your passion goes from somewhat normal to over the top in no time at all. Although you may feel like you have a hold on how often you shop, things can be a little crazy. Whether you find yourself hitting the stores every day, endlessly buying gifts for people, or making online orders multiple times each week, you might want to see if you can reign it in a little. But how do you go about doing that?

Sometimes, you can feel as if you don’t have a problem, or you could stop shopping if you really wanted to, but it isn’t always that easy. Shopping can be a true addiction, just like anything else. So, to ensure that you’re managing your urges to shop in the most efficient way, it’s time to take action. And if you need a little help in doing that, these handy pointers should start you off on the right foot.

    Do You Have A Problem?

The first part of the process that you need to address is often the hardest. Even if you don’t feel as if your shopping is that problematic, you really do need to consider if you have a shopping problem. Being a shopaholic can seem like a lot of fun. But, those highs you feel when you’re swiping your credit card can often come crashing down when you receive the bills! So, to start managing your habit, be honest with yourself about your potential problem.

    Work Out What You Spend

Next, you’re going to want to really face the music by looking at what you spend. Off the top of your head, do you know what you usually spend on your shopping altogether each month? Groceries, clothing, shoes, beauty supplies – all of it. Sometimes, you may feel like it’s just a few hundred dollars, but it can actually be shockingly a lot more. And now’s the time to find out.

    Create A Budget

When you’re uncovered the amounts that you’re actually spending each month, it’s time to start setting yourself a budget. It’s important to do this based on what you earn, what you have to pay on bills, and what savings you need to make. Then, you can see what’s left to spend on shopping. If you have been spending more than what you earn, this step will be the most important of all.

    Use Cash

If you find that you’re all too tempted to swipe your credit card all of the time, you might benefit from trying to use cash instead. When you have to pay in cash, it feels more real. When you have a set amount of money in your wallet, you definitely think twice before spending it. Because you can see it and feel it, you’re more aware than when it’s gone; it’s gone. So working with cash can often mean that you spend a lot more wisely.

    Write Everything Down

Just like you went through your expenditure to find out just how much you were really spending, it may help you going forwards to start tracking what you spend. Not only should you record all of your shopping purchases, but everything from your rent and groceries to coffees and car payments. Tracking your spending can often be a great way to cut down. Not only can you be shocked by how much you’re spending, but you can start to control what you’re spending it on.

    Set Yourself A Limit

As you start to write everything down, you should know what you’re roughly spending on what each and every month. Alongside having a budget, you might also find it useful to have spending limits. Say you have a $200 budget to shop with each month, why not then set limits on what that can go towards? If you find yourself continuously buying beauty products that you just don’t use, set yourself a limit of X amount of dollars that you can’t go over every month. It might sound restrictive, but it can help you to manage your spending well.

Have A One For One Rule

Another way to make sure that all of your purchases count, is to have a one for one rule. You may be tempted to buy that gorgeous dress that just caught your eye and looks great on, but you will think twice about doing it if you know that you’re going to have to throw something out that you already own. By committing to throwing things out whenever you buy anything new, it really does mean that you have to be 100% certain of the things you’re planning on buying.

    Use Gift Cards

If you’re not keen on using cash, you might want to think about using gift cards instead. It may sound crazy, but when you load money onto a gift card, you really do have a limit. You can even choose your stores, visit Cards2Cash for ideas on what you can get so that you’re taking back more control of where your spend. And because you have a limit, you know that once you’ve spent it, it really is gone.

    Be Transparent

One of the ways you can really make sure that you’re taking back control of your spending it to be completely open and honest about it. Whether you have a problem or feel like you may have had one in the past, by telling your friends and family about it, you’re now held accountable. Being transparent with them means that you can no longer hide purchases, so you have to make sure that everything you buy is worth it and justified.

    Cut Up Your Cards

This may not work for everyone, but if you really feel like you have a problem and you can’t get control of it, you might want to think about cutting up your cards. When you spend on credit cards or store cards, just because you can, you can often find that you get into debt super easily. But, if you cut up your cards, you can stop that from happening, or nip it in the bud before it gets any worse.

  5. How To Look Effortlessly Chic?

    February 10, 2017 by barbara

Sometimes I wonder why some people can look so effortlessly chic.  These people are often in their denim and a shirt or even a sweatshirt but they really look fashionable.  I know this is a silly though but I have been thinking about it for a while.  How does one pull off a chic look together without much effort?  Does a person have to be slim in order to pull off an effortless style?  I read somewhere that it is important to have a set of efficient wardrobe.  Key fashion pieces are important such as a few pairs of nice pants, denim, tailored tops, statement necklaces and shoes. Classic pieces that fit well, flatter your body and can be mixed and matched easily are all we need.

    December 19, 2016 by barbara

I love wearing jeans as they can hide my flaws. I feel insecure with my belly so it is important that I find the right pair of jeans that will accentuate my best features without drawing attention to my midsection.   Although style experts have cautioned against wearing skinny jeans for those who are looking to hide the stomach, I still find they can hide my tummy well.  Choosing a dark colour skinny jeans and pairing with long blouses that cover the hips will flatter the figure and hide the tummy.

Here are a few charts from that can help to find the perfect pair of jeans for women with different shapes.

  8. The Must-Have Accessories For Winter

    November 19, 2016 by barbara

Depending on where you are in the world it might still be looking a lot like fall. Other areas will look and feel like the full throws of winter. But with colder temperatures, comes different fashion and accessories. It is great to be able to bundle up in chunky knit sweaters, leggings and ankle booties. But what else should we be styling ourselves in this winter? Here are some of the must-have accessories for the season.

    Hat or Beanie

It is incredibly important to keep your head warm in winter. We lose a lot of heat through our heads, so it is good to cover up. The best thing is, though, there are so many stylish options when it comes to headwear. You could go for a slouchy beanie hat, on the days when you are a little more dressed down. Pom pom beanies are still a big trend in headwear this winter. So you could get a brand like Pomskii this year. Fedora hats are a big trend too (a woollen one, rather than a straw one). Style with a long coat and boots and you will look good as well as be keeping warm.

    Elegant Jewelry

Summer is the best time for statement jewellery. In winter, you are covered up more and use layers. So a bold necklace can get lost when wearing a scarf, for example. So keep your jewellery elegant and simple this winter. Long pendant necklaces are a good look, as they can peek through when wearing a scarf. Keep rings straightforward too. Too many gems on a ring can get caught when putting on gloves. So choose a ring with just one or two stones, much like the Tacori rings range.

    Socks Full of Color

When you have been out in the rain or snow, you will be taking your boots or shoes off when you are at home. So having some bright and fun winter socks will be really neat. Everyone will see them, so it is better to have some bright ones. Somewhere like Forever 21 does a great range of socks.

    Stylish Sunglasses

Don’t be fooled by the word winter. You can still get plenty of bright sunny days in winter. So having a stylish pair of sunglasses is a must. It can help you when driving in the sun, as well as just walking out and about. If there is ice and snow, the sun can seem even brighter. So it is safer when driving to have sunglasses on.

    Protective Gloves

Our hands can really feel the cold in winter. The blood flows to our major organs to keep them warm when it is cold outside. So our extremities can feel the coldest. So it is important to keep them warm with gloves. It is a good idea to moisturize your hands before putting your gloves on. Then they will stay hydrated, rather than getting cracked or sore. It might even be worth investing in a pair of designer gloves, as better material will protect the delicate skin.

  10. Fancy Hitting The Ski Slopes This Winter? Then Head To The US!

    October 20, 2016 by barbara

Although summer is over, that doesn’t mean that we have to wait until next year to get away. There are plenty of destinations that offer the most amazing winter breaks. Of course, the most popular winter break is skiing. Something that has gained more and more popularity over the past few years.

Even if you’ve never hit the slopes before, skiing can make a fantastic winter break. It may be somewhat daunting putting on skies for the first time. However, skiing really is a lot of fun and is something that everyone should try at some point or another. If you’re going to go skiing, the best place to go has to be the US, as it has so many different skiing resorts to choose from.

If the idea of going skiing sounds like it could be fun, here’s what you’ll need to do to prepare for your trip.

    Pick your travel buddies

The first thing that you need to do is decide who you want to go with. It might be that you want to make it a romantic trip for yourself and your partner, or perhaps you’d prefer to travel as part of a larger group. If you decide to travel as part of a larger group, make sure to be choosy about who you invite. The last thing you want is clashing personalities ruining the trip for everyone. So make sure that everyone who wants to come along gets on well with each other.

Book your plane ticket and get your travel documents in order

Once you’ve decided which ski resort is best, the next step is to book your plane tickets and get your travel documents in order. Check that your passport is in date and has at least six months left on it – if not you will need to renew it. It’s also important to get to grips with the US entry requirements. While you may not need a visa to get into the country, you may need an ESTA. To find out more about the American ESTA requirements, take the time to do your research. This is important, as without the right documentation, you won’t be able to enter the country. It’s a good idea to also check that everyone that you’re traveling with has also got the right documentation in place.

    Research all the best resorts

Once you’ve chosen your travel buddies, the next step is to research all the best resorts. The US has some amazing skiing resorts, it’s just a case of finding the one that is best suited to your budget and needs. Four of the most popular skiing destinations in the US are Lake Tahoe, Aspen, Vail, and Park City. Take a look at the facilities on offer at each resort, as well as the prices. This should give you an idea of which resort is best suited to you. Don’t forget to take the types of slopes they have into account – ideally, you want to choose a resort that has a mixture of slopes. As that way, everyone is happy.

If you’re planning to head to the US this winter for a skiing trip, the tips above should help to make the planning process a little easier.
