  1. IKEA Regolit Lamp

    March 4, 2012 by barbara

Just the other day when my spouse was at a store checking out the BBK electric fuel pump kit as he would like to get a replacement for his force-induction car,  I went shopping in IKEA.  I am a great fan of IKEA.  My hubby is a car-enthusiast so he spent like 2 hours checking out the electric fuel pump kits which means I had 2 hours in the Swedish store.  Actually, I have seen some inspiring DIY lamp using IKEA’s Regolit lamp from IKEA Hackers.  Therefore, I would like to do something too.  I did get myself 2 Regolit lamps.  Time to let the creative juice flows.

  3. Dress For Wedding

    February 23, 2012 by barbara

My cousin is a musician and he performs at the local club every weekend with his bandmates.  He took guitar lessons since he was 10 and now he plays the fender electric bass .   He will be getting married this summer and he plans to have a beach wedding.  My cousin said that he and his bandmates will be performing at his wedding too.  Oh I just cannot wait.  I am sure it will be an awesome wedding.  I just found this lovely ethnic lace dress from Free People a while ago. I think it would be nice to wear to the beach wedding, don’t you think so?

  4. I could eat a horse

    February 23, 2012 by barbara

I like to say this every time when I am really hungry.   Well, this post is not about the saying.  Instead it is about a clever tool use for measuring spaghetti portions. The portion can be small, adult or” eat a horse”. For days that sometimes a handful of pasta ain’t enough.  Funny and cute eh?  It is available at Reykjavik Corner Store.  Available in green or plastic steel.

  5. Birthday Gift Ideas For A Friend

    February 18, 2012 by barbara

A dear friend’s birthday is just 2 weeks away.  She will be having a little birthday party do at her home with friends and family.  I cannot wait to celebrate her birthday as she is turning 40.   My friend is the first one in our group of friends to turn 40 so this is very special indeed.  A few of us are going to help her put up the decoration for her party.  The decor involves lots of heart-shape stuff, banners, sweet paper flowers made from cupcake liners and etc.  It is going to be so much fun.

I have been thinking what to get her for her birthday.  I found a couple of things which I think she would like.

Gold Peter Pan Collar from Dorothy Perkins. My friend loves tops with Peter Pan collar so I think she would really like this gold collar.

Tan East/West Shopper from Dorothy Perkins.  She has been looking around for a shopper and since orange is her favourite colour, I think she would like this bag.

Beautiful candlewick bedspreads from Damart.  Pink is her favourite colour and just recently, she was saying that she would like to get a new bedspread.  So, do you think she would like this lovely Dusky Pink candlewick bedspread?

Cream and Crystal Necklace from Dorothy Perkins.  I just love the simplicity of this necklace.

It is so hard to make a decision on which to choose for my friend.  Perhaps I should get a few of them as gifts for her.

  7. Gift Tags for Jam Jars

    February 15, 2012 by barbara

A good friend of mine loves to bake and she has been baking all kinds of cakes and cookies for her friends and family.  Last Christmas, she decided to embark on a little business by baking fruit cakes and gingerbread cookies.   All her bakes were snapped up in a very short time.  This shows how good she is at baking huh?  She gave me a piece of fruit cake and a jar of cookies.  They were heavenly.  I can still imagine the taste of rum from the fruitcake when I took a bite.  Recently, she is into making jams and have made quite a number of marmalade.  Since everyone loves her jam, she intends to make other types of fruit jams to sell.

Since I love to create my own gift tags, I told my friend that I would love to do some jam jar tags for her.  I am thinking of using twines and brown paper / kraft paper to create the tags.  I have a few ideas on how to design the tags.  It is going to be fun and I cannot wait to start.  I hope my friend’s baking business will continue to grow and soon she may need to get some rack cards to promote her business.

While the spouse is busy checking out taps and dies, I was at Anya Hindmarch checking out the latest bag collection.   I spotted this beauty and could not take my eyes off it.  It is the Nude Velvet Calf Nevis Raw Tote.  This is the iconic Anya Hindmarch style.   This large tote features many pockets and interior compartments.  The handle is hand-stitched and finished with a subtle gunmetal Anya Hindmarch bow.   Would love to have this bag for Valentine’s Day *wink*
