  1. New Clothes Shopping For Chinese New Year

    February 2, 2010 by barbara

Chinese New Year is only 2 weeks away and I haven’t bought any new clothes for the celebration.  It has always been a tradition in my family (in most family too) for everyone to usher in the New Year with new clothes and shoes.  I have checked out a few stores at the malls but nothing caught my eye.  Most of the clothes are sleeveless and I don’t wear sleeveless because I have flabby arms.  I was checking out my favourite store online – JCrew and saw something that I really like.

    Vintage Matchstick Jeans

You think I would be able to fit into them and look great?  Well perhaps I should get a threadmill with the nordictrack promotion code and start exercising. There is 2 weeks more to Chinese New Year so I think I should be able to lose a couple of pounds :)

  4. old things, new uses

    January 25, 2010 by barbara

I came across some really good ways to repurpose everyday items from  I never knew so many things can be so useful, just like auto insurance.  I definitely  look at things in a different way now.  Here are some of my favorites.

    1) WD 40

It can be used to remove crayons from any surface such as plastic, metal, TV screens or freshly painted walls. Just apply a small amount and rub away with a clean cloth.

    2)  Mayonnaise

It can be used to remove old stickers from mirrors, glass and bumpers.  Just apply a generous helping to persistent adhesives and scrape it off with a putty knife.

    3)  Laundry bag

Great for keeping lids, baby bottle caps and other small items from falling through the dishwasher rack.

    4)  Pillowcases

They can be used to clean a ceiling fan.  Just slide an old pillowcase over a blade, then grip the case and pull it back.  This will keep the dirt contained.

    5)  Newspaper

When your container has smell, just use some newspaper and put it into a plastic container, seal it and let it sit overnight.  By next day, all the smell will be absorbed by the newspaper.  What a great Food container deodorizer.

  6. Keep Your Cables Organized

    January 22, 2010 by barbara

My husband was on the computer a while ago looking for 24 hour towing and I quickly asked him to also check out anything that can keep the cables organized.  I have a big problem with cables all over the desk and floor.  What a big mess.  Well, I am glad that he found Cordies, a on-your-desk cable management system which organizes the computer cables and also keeping them weighed down so that they do not fall off the desk when disconnected.  I like them because they are cute and colourful.  Cordies come with 3 individual loop spaces and is available at

  7. Baby Baths Make A Great Baby Shower Gift

    January 22, 2010 by barbara

A friend of mine  invited me to her baby shower last weekend.  It was great to see her and everyone had a nice time at the shower.  I was looking around for a nice gift for her baby a week before the shower and decided to get the Flexi-bath.  It is a hard plastic children’s bathtub made from polypropylene and thermoplastic elastomeric.   What is so special about this bath is that the corners and non-slip bottom of the bath have TPE lines which enables the bathtub to be folded flat easily with a touch of the hand.  Designed by Danish Company, A Real Cool World, the bath can be stored anywhere in the house.  How space-saving eh?  I bought the green bathtub for my friend’s baby.  Also available are pink/red/blue/transparent and turquoise.  Check out

  9. Want to burn calories?

    January 16, 2010 by barbara

Well, just go shopping 😉 It was reported in the that average women burn up to 48,000 calories a year just by going shopping.  This is the best weight loss plan I’ve come across so far.  Lose weight while doing something we love.  Besides retail therapy, shopping helps us to shed some pounds too.  No wonder about 2000 polled ladies said they felt more tired and exhausted after a day’s shopping than at the gym.  This is so cool.  Now we have more reasons to go shopping.

  10. Leather Motocross Pants

    January 16, 2010 by barbara

While browsing the online stores, I came across this good-looking motorcross pants from  This black leather pants has motocross knee detailing and zip-fastening cuffs.   Great when paired with sharp shouldered jacket and heels.  I have seen many celebrities wearing pants like this.  Tight leather pants are great for highlighting slender figures.  I wish I can wear this kind of pants and look good in it.   Perhaps I can after taking some top fat burners?
